Holy crap… ok, when Google Video started, Google simply took the Closed-Captioning feed from programs and saved the data, pre-time-synched to the content. Then, when you searched, it would return results from the transcripts. No biggie, right?
Then there’s Podzinger. Using some crazy speech-to-text technology, Podzinger allows you to search for content within a podcast. Not only that, but in your results, theoretically you’re able to click on the word you searched for and begin listening to the podcast at that exact point. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Unfortunately, IE 5.0 or higher is required for audio playback, so… go on PC folks, live it up! The rest of the world will have to settle on text results only… for now.
Check out Podzinger here, before they get bought and assimilated into the Google Omniservice.
