The fourth season of The Apprentice has finally come to a close, with Donald Trump choosing superstar candidate Randal as his next Apprentice. Personally, I thought he should have chosen Rebecca, who seemed much more focused, and driven. Last week’s episode ended with a cliffhanger and in the preview, the announcer said something along the lines of, “… and The Donald has one more surprise…”, which made me immediately think he was going to hire both of them. It’s been such a fire-happy season, letting go of two, even four people, at once, that I figured hey what the heck, they’re both great, hire them both!
Well I was right. Sort of. After The Donald told Randal he was hired, and Randal celebrated and gave hugs all around and props to the audience, The Donald said, “Randal, sit down.” He then spoke about how much he valued Randal’s opinion, and asked him straight out, “Should I hire Rebecca too?”
Without flinching, Randal said no. “This is the APPRENTICE, not APPRENTAE. There is only one apprentice.” And with that, it was over!Donald Trump said, “Hey ok cool” and that was that.
They both chose separate projects to work on in the event they were hired, and I’m sure they wouldn’t have been paid any less had there been TWO apprentices. It seemed like an uncharacteristically selfish thing for Randal to do and I’m 100% sure that had Rebecca been hired and asked the same question, she would’ve suggested Trump hire Randal too.
I like Randal, and I like Rebecca. It sucks Randal did what he did, and here’s to the hopes that Trump hired Rebecca anyway.
And now that the season is over, with Season 5 already complete, the sixth season has already been announced. This time, they’ll be leaving Manhattan and filming the show in Southern CA to help promote Trump’s West coast business ventures. According to NBC, “along with new challenges, twists and surprises — [season 6] also will feature tasks indigenous to and emblematic of the new locale.” So, hollywood, the music industry, and maybe some porn stars? Only time shall tell…
