The Optimus Keyboard from Art Lebdev

Optimus Keyboard from Art Lebdev StudiosDuring the initial buzz around the Optimus keyboard announced sometime last year, I discovered a section of Russian design studio Art Lebdev’s site called “Mandership”, which is essentially a blog of sorts for, who I can only imagine is insane, Artemy Lebdev. Their portfolio is nice to look at, but Mandership is where it’s at! All the posts are very random and usually tied into design somehow, but as an added bonus many of them are specific to Russian things, such as phone numbers, ad campaigns, Russian typography, etc. Below are links to some of my favorites:

91. A Short history of telephone numbers - Exploring the history of telephone numbers from Alexander Graham Bell to modern-day Russia.

113. The mystery of the Declaration of Independence - Exposé claiming a Russian calligrapher penned the Constitution and snuck a Russian letter into the title.

119. To hell with yo - A call to abolish the use of the Russian ë (yo)

I really do think Artemy Lebdev is insane. Reading through the posts, I feel a bit of old fashioned Barnum-esque hucksterism, but it really is fun reading!

Oh, and the crazy OLED contextual Optimus keyboard is supposedly due out February 11, 2006, but we’ll have to wait and see if it really does happen.

hopefully it wil get made, based on engaget. Who are terrible at rumor reporting are saying that they won;t make a full keyboard, but only three keys.
