Oh Iceland. She has given the world many great things, and Lazy Town is no exception. As cracked out as most of the things to come out of Iceland, Lazy Town is the brainchild of Magnús Scheving, Icelandic super-athlete, who created the show for kids as a motivational fitness program. It then got picked up internationally and now airs on Nick Jr.
Thank Jeebus for Youtube! Without it, those of us who have no TV would never be able to keep up on splendors like this. I’m glad the youth of today have this show to look back on in 20 years and say, “Man, remember that one show we used to watch? That was some cracked out shit!” because Tellytubbies has NOTHING on Lazy Town. It plays an important role in childhood development, I’m sure.
Some highlights include the ever popular “Baking A Cake” and the J-pop-esque “Galaxy“. A word of warning though: these catchy tunes will burrow themselves into the innermost regions of your psyche, and probably take a long, long time to leave.
