if you’ve never experienced the sheer joy of rolling a ball around a vast world collecting stuff, chances are you’ve never played Katamari Damacy. Your father, the King of the Universe, was being a little reckless up there in the heavens and accidentally destroyed all the stars in the sky. Your job, as the little bitty 5cm-tall prince, is to roll your ball, or katamari, around Earth, collecting whatever objects you come across so that your clumsy father can recreate the stars and constellations in the sky.
This song is my favorite off of the impressive soundtrack, which is full of your more familiar electronic video game music, but also features a few jazzy and bossanova-inspired tracks as well. It’s an inspirational tune, even if you don’t understand the words, but here’s a snippet in English:

this game is as close to perfect as a video game will ever come… i can’t think of anyone who has played it and had a single complaint (unless they were just playing it wrong)
