Ahhh yes, this one takes me way back to my days in Olympia, WA, where Phil Elvrum and friends would be performing around every turn! The Microphones was the wonderful music-child of Phil & whatever friends that might have happen by, such as Mirah and Khaela of The Blow. I have many fond memories of seeing them play in backyards, apartments, and yoga studios all around town.
I’m A Pearl Diver is from what many consider their best album (though with 12 albums over a five year period, that might be debatable), Song Islands. The entire album is a testament to that which is The Microphones, in all it’s lo-fi indie splendor.
