Olympia nostalgia strikes again! Cadallaca was the heavenly trinity of Corin Tucker (Sleater Kinney), Sarah Dougher (The Lookers, taught Latin at Evergreen!), and sts. They played under false names, but everyone knew Kissy (singer & guitarist Corin), Dusty (singer & organist Sarah), and Kissy (drummer sts) had only one thing in mind: to rock your pants off.
I had the chance to see them at the tiny Che Cafe in San Diego, and it that small venue I was able to shoot some incredible pictures of each of the girls doing what they do best. And it was at that very same time that the Universe decided to teach me a very very important photographic lesson: when shooting 35mm film, always make sure your new roll is properly loaded.
As it turned out, I didn’t get more than a shot or two of them setting up. I was destroyed, and it’s probably what helped me to switch to digital photography. A friend hooked me up with copies of the picture’s she’d taken, and it did a good job of easing the pain, but still, I would never look at a roll of film the same way again…
Anywhooo, check out this track off of their second (and last?) album “Out West”!
