My Official iPhone Review

iPhone Review

There isn’t much to be said about the iPhone which hasn’t already been covered by every tech blog and news outlet, so I don’t have too much to add to the mix. Personally, I had no problem typing on the keyboard. Predictive text, the feature that guesses what you meant to type even if you’re one key off on every letter, was excellent, and I was typing two handed in about 45 seconds.

From the Archives: Halcyon + On + On (Live Mashup) by Orbital

Orbital's Halcyon + On + On (Live Mashup)

I was inspired by my turntablist night at the Hollywood Bowl to dig up this gem from the archives. I haven’t heard Orbital in a long while, and Halcyon + On + On is one of their nicest songs.

How DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist Blew My Mind

DJ Shadow & Cut Chemists' "Hard Sell"

I haven’t really listened to much turntablist stuff in a while. There was a golden era a good few years ago, but I guess since computers are cheaper and more accessible, more people are getting down on the Ones & Zeros instead of the Ones and Twos.

In case you’re interested in checking out Michael Moore’s “Sicko” before it’s released, for probably a limited time only, you can view it in its entirety at Google Video.

Trafik: Art of Code at Apple.com

Trafik at Apple.com

Apple’s Pro series covers some very interesting uses of Apple technology in the arts and music. Their previous feature was on Bjork’s technical director, Allan Pollard, and talked about all the different crazy technology used in her live shows. This current feature on the French “new media” agency Trafik is not only a beautifully shot video, but also talks about the agency’s installation where they used a bunch of projectors, Adobe Illustrator, and Xcode to make some crazy giant sound-reactive cube, most recently shown at the contemporary art center La Ferme du Buisson in Paris.

Red Interactive

Red Interactive

This simple site for LA-based Red Interactive is a lot of fun. You pick from any number of Victorian-era characters and walk, run, fly and chat your way around. Not much to it, but it’s fun to poke at for a while. When you’re done with that, you can take a look at their impressive portfolio. A flash-based site done right, if I don’t say so myself!

Michael Moore’s Sicko: Oprah was right

Let me start off by saying that I’m not really a big fan of Michael Moore. His documentary style is about as fair and balanced as Bill O’Reilly, but at least what he’s saying is more or less for the good of the people.

That being said, his new film “Sicko” is absolutely incredible. When I first heard he was doing a movie about health care, I thought, “Who gives a crap?” Sure, I hear about it all the time, but does it really matter? Aren’t there more important things he could be concentrating on? Thing I could be concentrating on? But now that I’ve had the chance to see it, I can say without a doubt it is probably the most important movie anyone should see this year. Yes, even more important than “Knocked Up”.
