LA Public Library retools backend. What were they thinking?

I logged in this morning to check some holds I’d requested on my library account, and I noticed they’d made some improvements. Emphasis on the word “some”. The website for the Los Angeles Public Library isn’t bad, it’s got a nice, welcoming, library-esque feel to it as seen here:

Obama Moves Into the Whitehouse(.gov)

Whitehouse.gov Redesign

At noon today, even before he was officially sworn in, Barack Obama officially became the 44th President of the United States of America, and as quickly as he said his oaths, the www.whitehouse.gov website was re-launched. The new design reflects the aesthetics of the Obama campaign, and is clean and accessible to a very broad audience. Sections are large and obvious, and it seems to be easy enough to navigate.

The Presidental Debates: Part I

Listening to the debates, about 20 minutes into it, I am absolutely amazed at McCain’s Jedi Mind powers. He speaks, my mind goes blank, and next thing I know I’m in a ditch watching ants crawl by. That is true power!

My Official iPhone Review

iPhone Review

There isn’t much to be said about the iPhone which hasn’t already been covered by every tech blog and news outlet, so I don’t have too much to add to the mix. Michael Moore’s Sicko: Oprah was right

Let me start off by saying that I’m not really a big fan of Michael Moore. His documentary style is about as fair and balanced as Bill O’Reilly, but at least what he’s saying is more or less for the good of the people.

That being said, his new film “Sicko” is absolutely incredible. When I first heard he was doing a movie about health care, I thought, “Who gives a crap?” Sure, I hear about it all the time, but does it really matter? Aren’t there more important things he could be concentrating on? Thing I could be concentrating on? But now that I’ve had the chance to see it, I can say without a doubt it is probably the most important movie anyone should see this year. Yes, even more important than “Knocked Up”.

Please Stop Using Rosewood

Everyone who knows me, even if they don’t know Arial from Times New Roman, knows at least one font: Rosewood. What was once a great font to invoke the era of the Industrial Revolution, or even the Old West, is now one of the most overused fonts in the design arena, seen on everything from book covers to food packaging to billboards.
