Dealing with Duplicates: iPhone & Gmail Contacts

I’m working on migrating away from MobileMe, which I used for it’s big feature, keeping everything in sync wirelessly. My web host allows me to set up my own WebDAV, which replaces iDisk nicely, but synching contacts and calendar was still an issue.

Google Earth 5’s Historical Imagery

The release of Google Earth 5 has some pretty awesome features in it, and I think my favorite so far is the historical imagery. When you have a location up, a little clock icon in the toolbar at the top allows you to browse through past satellite images, in some cases going as far back as 1940!

MAKE Magazine’s Laser Communicator

Google Earth Introduces Sky, Promptly Blows my Mind

The Eskimo Galazy via Google Earth

The latest addition to Google’s awesome Google Earth software is, well… Sky. I don’t think it’s officially called “Google Sky”, but it might as well be, and it’s freaking awesome.

If you happen to lack a high-powered telescope, or perhaps an observatory, in your backyard, the newest version of Google Earth allows you to browse the heavens above, with constellation overlays, a moving Moon, planets, and the best of Hubble’s big shiny eye in the sky.
